Epworth Richmond currently treats over 42,000 patients each year. Over the next four to five years the hospital will become Victoria’s most advanced private health care provider, with:

  • Expansion of critical care facilities including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit and Cardiac Unit
  • A total of 777 inpatient beds (an increase of 328 beds)
  • The majority of inpatient beds are private rooms with en suites
  • Increase to 39 operating theatres
  • Purpose-built research and teaching facilities to support Epworth’s vision to become a full teaching hospital
  • The latest and most innovative evidence-based clinical treatment and care

The New Lee Wing

The Lee Wing includes six new operating theatres featuring the latest technology and design to support the needs of patients, surgeons and clinical staff.

The new theatres incorporate smart operating room technology and layouts to accommodate the multiple needs of neurosurgery, cardiac and general surgery.

Emergency Department

Epworth Richmond's emergency department is the largest private hospital emergency department in Victoria, treating over 28,000 patients annually. It's staffed by a team of experienced doctors and nurses 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

ICU

Our ICU nurses provide exceptional care and follow-up to patients, monitoring with the most advanced clinical practices and technology, ensuring Epworth is always giving the very best care.

Hybrid Lab

Epworth Richmond’s hybrid lab is a world-leading operating theatre for stroke, brain-tumour and cardiovascular disease patients. The hybrid/biplane operating theatre combines advanced imaging technology with a fully equipped surgical suite.

Surgeons perform minimally invasive procedures using precise imaging technology and immediately convert to open surgery if needed without patient relocation.

Clinical Education and Simulation Centre

Our state-of-the-art simulation-based clinical education centre develops skills and knowledge. The centre prepares our staff for a variety of treatment response practices with simulated operating suite areas, wards and mannikens.
