The Epworth Scholarship Program enables us to support our staff to ‘be their best and give their best’ by providing the opportunity to undertake a work related project or further studies and attend a conference or professional course.
Since its inception in 2009 the program has grown rapidly and in 2017 we will award 117 scholarships ranging from $2,500 to $12,500 to support staff development. This investment in employee scholarships is unmatched in the private hospital sector and is highly sought after by staff and it is a prime example of Epworth’s commitment to investing in staff development.
In addition to general scholarships, all expenses-paid study tours to international leading healthcare providers are hosted for clinical and non-clinical staff. In 2017 five staff will travel to Northwell Health in New York and 8 nurse leaders will travel to the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio. These trips facilitate benchmarking in different clinical and non-clinical areas, which lead to implementation of quality improvement projects on participants’ return, as well as providing valuable networking opportunities
The Scholarship Program is made possible in its entirety through the generous support of corporate sponsors and private donors. Many private donors have been previous patients of Epworth and their support of staff development is a reflection of the quality of care they received and of their exceptional patient experience.
