Our Enrolled Nurse Graduate Programs offer an intense though rewarding opportunity to experience the acute care setting unmatched by any other organisation.

Enrolled Nurse Graduate Programs will be offered at the following sites in midyear 2019:

  • Epworth Eastern
  • Epworth Freemasons
  • Epworth Geelong
  • Epworth Rehabilitation (Epworth Brighton, Epworth Camberwell, Epworth Hawthorn and Epworth Richmond)

Please note: Epworth Richmond offers an Enrolled Nurse program ‘Introduction to Acute Care.’ Please see further details below.

Our 12 month programs are flexible and tailored for you with two rotations.

Educational support

The enrolled nurse programs begin with extensive orientation. This is designed to prepare you for clinical work and introduce you to nursing at Epworth. The program includes a structured theoretical component, consisting of five professional development days with the graduate registered nurses throughout the year. These days are focused on professional issues as well as providing ongoing education to expand your scope of practice. It is our expectation that successful applicants will actively seek out learning opportunities.

Work hours

Enrolled Nurse Graduates are employed on a part-time basis (min four days per week). We encourage flexibility in rostering and it is expected you will work day, evening, weekends and some night duty shifts.

Professional development

The program provides ample opportunities for graduates to undertake further professional development and study to assist in career progression after your graduate year. On successful completion of the program, opportunities for ongoing permanent employment at Epworth are also available.

Locations and intake

This program operates at the locations listed above. Epworth has several annual intakes for the Enrolled Nurse Program. Intakes happen in February, March, July and August for different divisions. Interviews with prospective applicants are held during recruitment periods for each individual site.

Enrolled Nurse – Introduction to Acute Care

About the program

Epworth Richmond runs an Introduction to Acute Care Program for enrolled nurses with prior nursing experience who wish to move into the acute care environment. This 12 month program is tailored to meet the needs of this unique cohort of nurses.

The program aims to facilitate the acquisition of knowledge and skills not only necessary to perform well in an area of high complexity, but for the enrolled nurse to feel confident and competent to do so. Enrolled nurses will spend 12 months in a speciality area allowing them time to integrate and become valued members of the nursing team.

Education support

The Introduction to Acute Care Program begins with extensive orientation, followed by a structured development days delivered throughout the program. These development days are tailored specifically for the enrolled nurse, covering a variety of topics required for practice in the acute care environment and uses a blended approach to learning including; theoretical, hands-on workshops and skills sessions, online as well as simulation based training to help consolidate skills and knowledge.

Work hours

Participants are employed full time or part time (seven to 10 shifts per fortnight). We encourage flexibility in rostering and it is expected you will work days, evenings, weekends and some night duty shifts.

Beyond the program

On successful completion of the program, you would be highly sought after for ongoing employment.
